Convicted Domestic Abuser Serving Three Year Prison Sentence at Blackwater Correctional Facility

On July 26, 2024, Alachua Police Department officers arrested 34-year-old Tyler Timothy Itzen and charged him with misdemeanor property damage.

The arrest report states Itzen "became irate at the messages he was receiving from the victim and ended up kicking out the front passenger window of [her] vehicle... [Itzen] admitted post miranda to kicking out the window in a fit of rage," causing $200 in damages by an officer's estimate.

Itzen was eligible for a bond of $2,500 but he never posted it.

In September 2024, the victim came forward to report Itzen had previously beaten her and choked her until she couldn’t breathe and felt she would pass out. Itzen placed his hand over the victim's mouth and nose, and pulled her hair.

The incident was caught on camera. The victim showed pictures of her injuries to law enforcement.

Itzen was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery and domestic battery by strangulation (felony). His bond increased by $150,000.

Between January 2025 and February 2025, Itzen was convicted of all his charges in no contest plea deals. He was sentenced to three years in prison for the felony charge.

Arrest records show Itzen has been arrested several times.

Itzen is scheduled to be released in April 2027. He is currently housed in the Blackwater Correctional Facility.

Itzen was also sentenced to 18 months of probation which he'll begin serving after his release.
