On October 26, 2024, Alachua County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Frank Ralph Stitt, 64, and charged him with violating a domestic violence injunction.

Deputy Alexis Nelson regarded the incident as an armed domestic disturbance and reported the following:

"When I arrived on scene I made contact with... Frank Stitt. Frank explained that himself and his girlfriend, [the victim] had moved into their new home today and had been drinking prior to law enforcement arrival. The two were involved in a verbal dispute and [the victim] stated that Frank had displayed his weapon and verbally threatened her, only holding the gun in his hands while still in the holster.
Frank spontaneously uttered that he does own a handgun and keeps it in the kitchen drawer. Frank stated that he never touched the weapon tonight.
Frank provided consent and allowed me into his home to verify the presence of the weapon.
Myself and [other] deputies were able to determine that an aggravated assault had not occurred but while running Frank through law enforcement databases it was discovered that he was the respondent on a non-expiring Domestic Violence Protection order out of Putnam County with another petitioner. Condition 7 under the injunction states respondent will not purchase/possess firearms or ammunition."

On December 16, 2024, Stitt took a plea deal in which he was convicted and sentenced to pay court costs.

Stitt has two prior convictions for violating a domestic violence injunction out of Putnam County, court records show.
