Alachua County Man Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Cory Allen Robinette, 46, last week and charged him with felony battery by repeat offender and domestic battery by strangulation.

According to the arrest report, the victim told police she bought food and cigarettes for Robinette and dropped it off at his house. The victim took a nap and awoke to Robinette accusing her of stealing his Suboxone and Valium. The victim told him that she didn’t take anything and wanted to go back to sleep. 

Robinette reportedly pushed the victim on the ground and choked her until she couldn’t breathe. The victim pushed Robinette off her, and he reportedly tore her dress. She then fled outside and flagged down a High Springs Police Department officer for assistance. 

Deputy Skyler Lawson reported that she initially couldn’t make contact with Robinette, but she returned the same day and arrested him.  

Robinette has a prior battery conviction from 2011, court records show.

The Alachua County Jail is holding Robinette on a $70,000 bond. 

Update | August 1, 2026:

In November 2025, Robinette entered into a no-contest plea agreement with prosecutors, in which he was convicted of domestic battery by strangulation and sentenced to seven months in jail followed by two years of probation. The agreement was accepted by Judge James Colaw.
