APD Responds to Armed Robbery at Hitchcock’s Supermarket

On the night of April 1, at 9:34 pm, the Alachua Police Department (APD) responded to Hitchcock’s Supermarket at 15560 NW US Hwy 441, Alachua, FL, due to an armed robbery at the grocery store.

According to APD‘s Facebook post, a male assailant pointed a pistol at an employee working the closing shift and demanded all of the money from the business’ safe.

APD didn’t specify how much money was taken, but said it was a “significant” sum.

The victim was reportedly pistol-whipped at some point during the altercation. They were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

APD stated their detectives are looking into multiple leads regarding the incident. They asked anyone who may have knowledge of what happened to contact Detective J.
