Breaking: Ignite Life Center Senior Pastor's Son Arrested in Court for Failing to Appear at Prior Hearing
Christian Vargas (ACSO Jail)

Christian Vargas, 22, was arrested for the third time today at the Alachua County Criminal Courthouse for failing to appear at his scheduled arraignment earlier this month.

Vargas currently faces three separate criminal cases for lewd/lascivious behavior. Police reports describe him sexually abusing girls between the ages of 12 and 15 while he was between the ages of 16 and 18 at Ignite Life Center Church.

Vargas was arrested and charged as an adult for two of the cases in 2023 while he was charged in the third case in 2025 within juvenile court. Earlier this year, Vargas’ third case was transferred to felony court, prompting him to be arrested again and post bond a second time.

Vargas' Cases (Alachua County Court Records)

Vargas' father, Mark Vega, faces a count of failing to report suspected child abuse while serving as senior pastor at Ignite Life Center Church.

After Judge Robert Groeb revoked Vargas' bond and set a new bond at $500,000, his attorney made a motion to quash the new warrant. Groeb denied the motion today and ordered Vargas, who was present in court, to be arrested again.

GnvInfo will obtain video of the hearing through a public records request. Another article that fully covers the hearing will be released in the future.
