FDLE and FBI Conduct Two Investigations in City of Alachua

ALACHUA - Reports show the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are conducting respective investigations into Adam Boukari and Santa Fe High School (SFHS).
In June 2025, the FDLE filed sworn complaints for child neglect without great bodily harm and failing to report suspicions of child abuse against suspended SFHS Athletic Director Michele Faulk and suspended administrator David Rendek, along with retired administrator Timothy Wright. The FDLE alleges the school faculty members failed to report sexual harassment committed by former SFHS coach Travis Yeckring, who hasn’t been criminally charged but was named in a now-dismissed civil lawsuit against the City of Alachua and Alachua County School Board.

Separately, in July 2024, the FDLE raided the joint-offices of the Boukari Law firm and Alachua Today newspaper, both businesses owned by the Boukari family.
Recently, the FBI started handling the SFHS investigation, but it’s unclear if they have a role in the Boukari case.
In May 2025, an FDLE memorandum, that was published in March, detailing the reason for the Boukari office raid went viral locally.
According to the FDLE memorandum, Boukari, who is also the former city manager of Alachua, allegedly sexually abused young boys sometime between 2006 and 2021.

Quoting a search warrant for the premises, the memorandum states, “Based on the number of known victims, probable victims, and number of sex acts Adam has committed that have resulted in male ejaculation, it is highly probable for Alachua Today to contain trace evidence of semen from many victims… Your affiant has reason to believe and does believe that the structure in question has contained in the past, and does contain now, certain instrumentalities and contraband which constitutes a violation of laws of the State of Florida, or certain evidence which constitutes proof of a violation of the laws of the State of Florida, and based upon the foregoing, requests issuance of search warrant for the above-described business to allow seizure of the above described items.”

Boukari denied allegations of criminal wrongdoing in a text to Main Street Daily News when they published the contents of the memorandum.
According to the memorandum, an attorney with Boukari Law, Linda Chapman, presented a long list of allegations against the FDLE officer who executed the search warrant, Special Agent (SA) Carbia, which included alleged social media violations.

One of the social media interactions Chapman alleged was inappropriate was in reference to SA Carbia’s comments towards Colby Thompson, who made news for pulling promotional materials for his business, Thompson Sod Inc., from SFHS in response to the sex abuse coverup allegations. The FDLE memorandum identifies Thompson as a witness in the SFHS case.

The memorandum states that Chapman, along with fellow Boukari Law lawyer and one of Adam Boukari’s relatives, Bryan Boukari, “believed confidential information was being leaked to the media by SA Carbia based on reporting in various media outlets about the on-going criminal investigation related to SFHS.”

According to a 2016 Gainesville Sun article, Adam Boukari has a longstanding history with SFHS. The Sun reported Boukari “tutors and mentors students, chaperones field trips and has been president of the boy’s basketball Booster Club for seven years.”
In August 2021, Adam Boukari left his position as city manager in Alachua, and Faulk attended his farewell party, making a post on Facebook congratulating him for his legacy where she stood alongside Mike DaRoza, who served as the city manager of Alachua after Adam Boukari before resigning in May 2025. Also pictured are former Alachua County Sheriff Clovis Watson, who had a long career in the City of Alachua, along with former Archer Elementary principal (now Rawlings Elementary principal) Stella DaCruz Arduser.

According to a Facebook post by the late Robert Wilford, who served as an Alachua commissioner prior to his passing, several more notable figures attended Adam Boukari's farewell party.

Wilford also has a post on his Facebook showing Adam Boukari associated with SFHS as late as May 2020. Wilford wrote, "We are so proud of our Santa Fe seniors who were deprived this year of formal graduation ceremonies and other festivities because of the insidious pandemic which has turned the country upside down. Dr. Elizabeth LeClear, SFHS Principal, and Adam Boukari, Alachua City Manager, and each of their dedicated staffs, had been working on a surprise event to pay tribute to our graduates for their achievement."

On August 27, 2025, TV20 published an article regarding the FBI taking over the SFHS investigation from the FDLE. Thompson reposted the article on his Facebook, and someone commented asking if "the Boukari case [was] dropped." Thompson responded, "Not a chance. It is all pretty much combined at this point, in my opinion."
GnvInfo attempted to interview Thompson but he said he can't speak due to being on contract for a documentary.
A search of Alachua County Court Records shows no criminal charges have been pressed against Adam Boukari.
Warrants have not been issued to arrest Faulk, Rendek and Wright, court records show.
