Gainesville Man Arrested by APD for Domestic Battery

Alachua Police Department (APD) officers arrested Rafael Cruz, 35, Saturday and charged him with domestic battery.

The police observed the victim limping and visibly injured upon their arrival. The victim stated she and Cruz were in an argument leading him to push her to the ground causing her to hit her head and twist her ankle. The victim was evaluated at the hospital. 

Cruz reportedly admitted to battering the victim. 

Cruz was released on recognizance under orders that he not possess any weapons and maintain no contact with the victim.
