Gainesville Man Arrested for Battering and Threatening Family Members

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Mahmood Saed Dardas, 32, Monday and charged him with assault and battery.
According to the arrest report, Dardas and the male victim were arguing, and he aggressively approached him, prompting the female victim to get in between them.
Dardas reportedly pushed the female victim to the ground to get to the male victim. Dardas started choking the male victim and he responded in self defense, holding Dardas' head.

The victims barricaded themselves in a room to get away from Dardas.
The male victim told police he heard metal tool sounds and Daras making death threats in the kitchen, but he never saw him with a knife.

The male victim had visible scratches on his neck.
Dardas was released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond, court records show.
