Gainesville Man Arrested for Child Cruelty and Probation Violation

Gainesville Police Department officers arrested William John Pitts, 43, last week on a warrant for child cruelty.
The sworn complaint states Pitts saw his family member’s ex-girlfriend at a gas station and kicked her in the face. Pitts then got in his car and fled the scene.
Pitts is also charged with probation violation, having been convicted of battery and kidnapping three years ago and sentenced to five years of probation.
Pitt’s bond is set at $50,000 in his child cruelty case, but he is not eligible to be released with no bond in his probation violation case.
