Gainesville Man Arrested for Domestic Battery at Arcade Bar

Gainesville Police Department officers arrested Praveen Saravanan, 23, early Thursday morning and charged him with domestic battery. 

According to the arrest report, the victim and Saravanan got into an argument at the Arcade bar, leading her to go to the restroom. 

Saravanan reportedly became agitated and asked other women to get the victim out of the restroom. 

When the victim exited the restroom, Saravanan reportedly shoved her. 

Gainesville Police Department Officer Benjamin Stephenson asked the victim to explain what happened, and she said that Saravanan did not hit her. Stephenson asked the victim to clarify if Saravanan shoved her at any point, and she reportedly acknowledged that he did. 

Saravanan “was so intoxicated that he was unable to coherently put together sentences,” reported Stephenson. 

Judge Olin Shinholster ordered Saravanan released on recognizance under the conditions that he not possess any drugs or alcohol and maintain no contact with the victim.
