Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) deputies arrested Nathaniel Carter, 42, early Saturday morning and charged him with domestic battery and resisting an officer without violence.

The arrest report states the victim told deputies that Carter punched her unconscious, causing visible bruises and swelling to her face.

The arrest report states Carter “was located in a nearby residence where he was later found locked in a bedroom. Deputies made multiple announcements while outside the residence. These announcements received no response.”

When deputies entered with a K-9, Carter allegedly ignored their commands but surrendered after they told him the dog would be used to apprehend him.

The arrest report states Carter “admitted to striking the victim multiple times but would not specify specifically.”

Carter has two prior battery convictions from 2002 and 2003, respectively.

Carter was released Monday after posting a $125,000 bond, court records show.
