Gainesville Man Arrested for Pulling Gun at Taco Bell

Tuesday afternoon, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Jesse Matthew Lyles, 41, and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he reportedly pulled a gun on an employee working at the Taco Bell on Newberry Road. 

According to the arrest report, the victim told police she was working the drive thru when a man later identified as Lyles pulled in and “asked for a ramekin of cheese.” The victim reportedly said she did not know what ramekin was. Lyles reportedly became angry and circled around the building before driving up to the drive-thru window. Lyles then reportedly pulled out a pistol, cocked it and pointed it at the victim.

The victim stated she asked Lyles if he’d shoot her before he quickly drove away from the location. 

The victim’s sister who also works at the Taco Bell reportedly witnessed the incident. 

Lyles was arrested at a Panda Express close to the Taco Bell. Lyles reportedly said he “knew what this was about” and was found to be in possession of a pistol that had five rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.

Lyles is held without bond pending a pretrial detention motion by the State Attorney’s Office.
