Gainesville Man Caught on Camera Committing Strangulation Over Pet Custody

Gainesville Police Department officers arrested Miguel Angel Aguirre Quintero, 31, Monday and charged him with domestic battery by strangulation. 

According to the arrest report, Quintero was holding his and the victim’s cat when he walked over to her and pushed her head with his head. The victim told Quintero he wasn’t taking their cat and reached to take the pet from him.

Quintero and the victim struggled over the cat, and his shirt got ripped. 

The arrest report states the altercation continued outside of the residence and was captured on a Ring camera. Quintero choked the victim against a wall, causing her to black out. 

Quintero told police he “did not touch” the victim. 

Quintero and the victim were reportedly drinking prior to the incident. 

Quintero’s bond is set at $75,000, but the State Attorney’s Office has told the court they intend to file a pretrial detention motion.
