Gainesville Man Charged with Misdemeanor Battery After Incident Involving Firearms, Released on Recognizance
Louis Hickman (ACSO Jail)

Gainesville Police Department officers arrested Louis Hickman, 54, Monday night on one count of misdemeanor domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, the victim exited the shower and noticed Hickman took her gun out of a safe. She confronted him, and Hickman reportedly responded, “They told me what to do.” The victim then saw Hickman’s gun on the bed and grabbed it while telling him to give her back her own firearm. Hickman responded by standing up and attempting to take the gun from the victim, which she allowed due to fearing it would go off accidentally.

Hickman told police that the victim “threatened to burn him alive,” which she denied.

According to the arrest report, Hickman initially denied that the victim pointed a gun at him but later changed his story to saying she did after being advised of his Miranda rights.
