A man facing numerous child exploitation charges has motioned to reduce his $430,000 bond.

Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers arrested Alexander William Callison, 29, on June 4 and charged him with two counts of directing or promoting sexual performance by a child, two counts of possession of child pornography, and 14 counts of sending harmful material to minors using an electronic device.

According to a press release by GPD, officers got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a Kik account holder sharing multiple videos of child sexual abuse material.

The press release states Detective Donna Montague’s investigation “revealed that the likely account holder was Alexander Callison… Callison initially denied ownership of the accounts in question or possessing such abuse material. However, when shown his own self-produced content (graphic nude imagery), Callison stated that the videos were of him and that he used Kik to connect with other people because he felt lonely and wanted to feel wanted. Callison would then confess that he was the one who uploaded and shared this material through Kik. When asked when the first time was that he began using Kik to solicit content from minors and/or receive and/or distribute child sexual abuse material, Callison stated that ‘it goes back’ before the initial CyberTip. Callison told Detective Montague that he knows what he did was wrong and that he lives with that guilt. Callison stated that he was waiting for his behavior to catch up with him and wasn’t surprised that [police] made contact with him."

Callison motioned to reduce his bond Friday. The motion states Calison cannot post the bond and will live at his brother’s house with an ankle monitor if released.

The motion will be heard by Judge David Kreider Tuesday morning.
