Gainesville Man Released on Bond One Day After Domestic Battery Arrest

Gainesville Police Department officers arrested Ashley Galen Powers, 49, Tuesday and charged him with domestic battery. 

According to the arrest report, Powers and the victim were arguing when he began slapping her in the face. Powers reportedly slammed the victim into doors multiple times.

The victim had two black eyes and a knot on her head, the arrest report states. 

Powers denied hitting the victim and claimed her injuries were from her falling after "drinking one and a half bottles of wine."

Powers was released after paying a $200 cash bond one day after his arrest, according to the Alachua County Jail.
