Gainesville Man Sentenced to Less Than Two Years in Prison for Armed Robbery
Wednesday morning, Bobby Matthew King, 44, was sentenced to 23 months in prison and two years of probation following a no contest plea and conviction of armed robbery.

Facing a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, King took a plea deal that was accepted by Judge Denise Ferrero.
According to the arrest report, on September 7, 2025, King, who is homeless, was staying at the victim's residence. Prior to leaving, King grabbed the victim's motorized bike that was parked in his living room. During the incident, King raised his shirt to reveal a black gun in his waistband. King made eye-contact with the victim and said the bike was his now before forcing his way out of the front door with the bike in his possession.
The incident was witnessed by another individual at the victim's residence.
The arrest report states that King was "later located at the 1200 block of NW 23rd Avenue by the Gainesville Police Department and detained. Post Miranda, [King] stated the victim let him borrow the bicycle and it was stolen from him later that evening. [King] said he later located the bicycle but it was stolen again while he was sleeping. Based on these statements [King] admitted to having the bicycle in his possession."
King has several priors to include battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

King remains in the Alachua County Jail awaiting transport to a Florida Department of Corrections facility.
Under the conditions of his probation, King will be required to abstain from drugs and alcohol and to not associate with anyone using drugs or alcohol illegally. He'll be required to submit to random drug testing.
