GPD Announces Capital Sexual Battery Arrest
Keshawn Quantrell Taylor (ACSO Jail)

The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) announced the arrest of Keshawn Quantrell Taylor, 25, on their social media today.

According to court records, Taylor is charged with five capital felonies for sexual battery by an adult against a victim under 12, in addition to one first-degree felony charge for sexual battery by an adult against a 12-17 year old victim.

According to GPD, "The child victim disclosed the assault to an adult, who then notified law enforcement. During the investigation, detectives learned the sexual abuse had allegedly begun years earlier, but the victim was afraid to come forward and report it. Following the administration of Miranda warnings, Taylor admitted to the battery."

Prosecutors have motioned to keep Taylor held without bond pending trial.

Last year, police charged Taylor with molesting a child between 12-16 years of age but prosecutors dropped the case.
