GPD Locks Down Roads Around Downtown Parking Garage

Updated 9:14 pm: All police and firefighters have left the area and the woman is reportedly on the ground and alive.

The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) has placed road closures on SE 1st St, SE 1st Ave, SE 2nd Ave, and SE 3rd St around the Downtown parking garage due to a woman standing at the ledge on the top floor.

The woman is reportedly having a mental health crisis, saying she wants to commit suicide.

A firefighter being lifted by the aerial ladder on the fire truck appeared to be trying to talk the woman down. Officers have asked pedestrians walking and riding bicycles near the parking garage to leave the area.
