Update | October 19, 2026:

Judge Robert Groeb granted the prosecution's pretrial detention motion and Cody Smith was held without bond until the case was disposed.

Prosecutors dropped the sexual battery charge in August 2025 and dropped all other charges in December 2025.

Before the pretrial detention hearing, the prosecutor received a letter that argues for Smith's innocence.
