High Springs Man Sentenced to Year of Probation for Battery

Robert Jacob Watson, 32, was sentenced to one year of probation last week after being found guilty of battery, according to Alachua County court records.
Facing up to a year in jail for the misdemeanor, Watson took a plea deal that was accepted by Judge Kristine Van Vorst.
According to Watson's arrest report, officers with the High Springs Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance call at the residence. They made contact with Watson first, who claimed his family members had "jumped" him.
Multiple witnesses told police that Watson punched the victim in the face first, prompting her boyfriend to intervene.
Watson's probation conditions include not contacting the victim, completing 50 hours of community service, and abstaining from possessing or consuming any drugs or alcohol.
