On October 10, 2024, Alachua County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Kevin Alexander Kulow, 34, and charged him with misdemeanor domestic battery.

The arrest report states Kulow and the victim were evacuating from Tampa due to Hurricane Milton.

Kulow was reportedly arguing with the victim about money at a Marathon gas station in Newberry when he punched her in the face.

Deputy James Adler responded and questioned Kulow. Kulow accused the victim of attempting to choke him and said he "might have struck her in the process" of pushing her away.

Adler noted that Kulow’s account of events was inconsistent with the victim’s injuries.

Kulow was released on a $2,500 bond.

On August 11, 2025, Kulow took a no contest plea deal in which he was convicted and sentenced to roughly two weeks in jail followed by one year of probation.
