Breaking: Christian Vargas Has Third Criminal Case
Court records filed on Wednesday show Christian Vargas of Ignite Life Center (ILC) Church has a third felony criminal case for sex offenses.
Vargas was arrested in July 2023 on one count of lewd or lascivious battery and one count of lewd or lascivious conduct for allegedly raping a 12-to 13-year-old girl when he was 16 and sexually coercing a 14-year-old girl when he was 17–18. The incidents occurred at ILC and were charged as two separate cases. He was released shortly after his arrest upon posting a $40,000 bond.

Newly published court records indicate that in 2025, Vargas, in his early 20s, was charged with another count of lewd or lascivious battery within juvenile court.
The date and location of the offense is not clear.
Within the criminal justice system, it’s possible for adults to be charged as juveniles if they committed the offense as a minor. Depending on the severity of the offense, it’s also possible for juveniles to be charged as adults.
On April 1, 2026, the case was transferred from juvenile court to the felony division (adult court). Juvenile cases are generally exempt from public records, so the case is only coming out publicly now.
Due to the case beginning in juvenile court, details are currently scarce.

Records indicate that the court intends to place Vargas in the custody of the Alachua County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) with a $250,000 bond. However, GnvInfo contacted the Warrants Department for ACSO, and an employee indicated there was nothing in their system about Vargas having a warrant.

The only court document that is currently viewable is titled “Order setting bail and transferring juvenile defendant,” however, the document states Vargas should be transferred “if” he is in juvie. The document doesn't make any confirmations regarding Vargas’ whereabouts or incarceration status. The document states Vargas will be "afforded a First Appearance hearing" in accordance with the law "at the time of the next ensuing First Appearance docket."
There are currently no dockets in Vargas' new felony case that reference a first appearance hearing.

The document states Vargas is being prosecuted pursuant to Florida Statue 985.557, which states, "With respect to any child who was [14-17] years of age at the time the alleged offense was committed, the state attorney may file an information when in the state attorney’s judgment and discretion [of] public interest requires that adult sanctions be considered or imposed..."

Vargas has a case management hearing for his initial cases set for April 20. There doesn't appear to be any scheduled court dates in his new felony case.
