Judge Denies Motion of Pretrial Detention For Alleged Rapist

Kaiden Samarrion Davis-Shanks, 19, was arrested last week and charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior for statutorily raping a girl below the age of consent. 

The victim’s family confronted Davis-Shanks and called the police. 

Davis-Shanks told police he’d been sexually abusing the victim for a month.

Davis-Shanks is on probation in Levy County for attempted burglary and criminal mischief.

The State Attorney's Office filed a motion of pretrial detention on Davis-Shanks but it was denied on Monday by Judge James Colaw. 

Colaw set Davis-Shanks' bond at $50,000 and ordered he wear an ankle monitor if released.
