Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault and Resisting Officers

Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers arrested Lejean Leonardo Brown, 31, last week and charged him with aggravated assault and resisting an officer without violence.
During an argument with the victim, Brown became enraged, armed himself, chambered a round and yelled at the victim to leave their house, states the arrest report.
The victim locked herself in her bedroom door and Brown reportedly broke the door down with the gun in his hand. Brown made the victim give him the house key and then he fled the scene on his motorcycle.
GPD Officer Aaron Stemen reported, “The victim was reluctant to provide incriminating information against [Brown] because she didn't want him to get in trouble. The victim stated she wasn't scared for her life during the incident. She was just scared of the ‘heightened situation.’ She described [Brown’s] handgun as a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun that was sand/brown in color. The victim stated she was familiar with the firearm and had previously gone with [Brown] to the shooting range. The victim stated [Brown] did not point the gun at her. Instead, she minimized the situation and stated he simply chambered a round before leaving the house like he always does. However, this incident, or parts of it, occurred while [two witnesses] were on the phone with her. [One of the witnesses] reported hearing the victim crying while telling [Brown] to put the gun away and to stop ‘pointing’ it.”
Brown told officers he had a gun on him when they detained him and the firearm was found in his waistband.
Brown allegedly disobeyed police orders to enter the patrol car and was forcefully pushed inside.
Brown has no bond pending a pretrial detention motion by the State Attorney’s Office.
