Gainesville Police Department officers arrested James Kuhns, 26, on Tuesday and charged him with misdemeanor assault, attempted burglary and resisting arrest.

According to the arrest report, the victim, a Popeyes employee, told police that Kuhns walked up to the drive-thru window and began knocking on the glass before attempting to pry it open. Kuhns threatened to kill the victim while attempting to break in.

After being detained by police, Kuhns reportedly “admitted to banging on the windows because he wanted to harm himself and he wanted the victim to help him.”

Kuhns allegedly resisted arrest by “tensing his body, and refusing to stand on his own.”

Kuhns’ bond is set at $25,000.

Kuhns has been banned from Popeyes, according to his first appearance order.
