Man Arrested for Slapping Woman and Making Disturbing Threats

Gainesville Police Department officers arrested Rolando Morales-Hernandez, 23, last week and charged him with aggravated battery.
According to the arrest report, Morales-Hernandez slapped the victim during an argument, leaving a visible bruise, before grabbing a knife and pointing it at his own throat.
Morales-Hernandez reportedly threatened to commit suicide before telling the victim if he was arrested and released, he would kill her and their children.
One of the victim’s family members witnessed the incident and corroborated Morales-Hernandez slapping the victim before threatening to hurt himself and others.
Morales-Hernandez reportedly told police he slapped the victim “gently” and “did not intend to inflict physical injury.” He then said, “Sometimes, when the victim does not listen, he threatens to kill himself to calm her down,” the arrest report states.
The Alachua County Jail is holding Morales-Hernandez on a $25,000 bond.
