Man Arrested in Alachua County on Warrant for Molesting Child in Jacksonville Church

A man is facing charges for child sexual abuse in Jacksonville after being arrested on a warrant in Alachua County.
Curtis Hyde, 33, was booked into the Alachua County Jail April 29 on a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) warrant for lewd or lascivious molestation, according to his charge report.

In September 2024, Hyde molested the minor victim in the bathroom of a Jacksonville church during service, Duval County Court Records show.
The victim told their pastor, and he confronted Hyde. The pastor told police that Hyde admitted to molesting the victim.
Hyde’s arrest form states he has numerous mental disabilities, giving him the mental capacity of a seven-year-old.
JSO Deputy Robinson reported he “attempted to read [Hyde his] Constitutional Rights and he did not acknowledge them due to his mental capacity. [Hyde] stated that he had been to jail before due to a fight he had with his grandfather. He described how he was in court and the judge took a piece of paper, crinkled it up, and threw it away. While [Hyde] was talking about the judge, he was smiling and laughing and grabbed the Constitutional Rights Form. He crinkled up the form as to demonstrate what the judge did to the paper and threw the ball of paper in the corner of the interview room in a playful manner.”
In 2022, Hyde was charged with domestic battery but the case was dropped.
Hyde was transferred to the JSO Jail May 5 and he is being held on a $750,000 bond.
