Man Extradited from Guatemala to Florida on Child Sexual Abuse Warrant

On Thursday, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies booked Inmer Misael Barrios Osorio, 39, into jail on a warrant for one count of transmitting harmful material to a minor and three counts of sexual battery against a victim 11 or younger. The warrant was issued over three years ago, around the same time prosecutors filed formal charges.

Barrios Osorio remains in jail pending a pretrial detention motion by the State Attorney’s Office. He has an arraignment scheduled for next month.

Update | July 21:

Prosecutors have submitted the pretrial detention motion, which states Barrios Osorio was extradited from Guatemala and has a pending sexual battery warrant out of Lee County. The motion states Barrios Osorio "could not be located" when charges were first pressed in January 2023.

The police report states Barrios Osorio sexually abused the victim in Gainesville when she was between four and six years old, and continued sexually abusing her for several years in other jurisdictions.

The criminal investigation was completed by the Tampa Police Department after the victim reported the sexual abuse in Tampa, which is located in Hillsborough County.
