Man Charged With Misdemeanor Battery After Victim Reports Sexual Assault and Harassment

Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers arrested Andrew Russell Moore, 32, last week on a warrant for misdemeanor battery.
The victim told police that her neighbor, Moore, would make derogatory remarks towards her over text and in person about groping her and having sex with her. The victim told Moore that she was not interested.
On May 25, the victim encountered Moore in the shared laundry room of their apartment complex. Moore began degrading the victim. When the victim told Moore to stop he lunged at her and sexually assaulted her by pinching her genitals, according to the sworn complaint. When the victim was in shock, Moore did it again.
GPD Officer Rena Connolly reviewed surveillance footage of the incident. She reported, “When [the victim] first enters the laundry room, [Moore] quickly follows [her] inside and immediately goes to a corner blocking the camera. [Moore] and [the victim] talk when [she] has to be in close proximity; the corner is next to the washing machines. [The victim] begins to look agitated before walking away. She walks between the washer and dryer which are across from each other and continues to talk to [Moore] while appearing angry… [The victim] walks over to [Moore] and is half hidden by the wall. [The victim] starts to shift quickly, backwards and forwards. It looks like she is striking something or being struck. [The victim] then walks away and continues to do laundry. When [the victim] leaves [Moore] follows her out.”
Moore is being held in the Alachua County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
