Man Serving Probation Sentence for Harassment
Update | Nov 3: This article was updated to include Chase Terrell’s admissions and reflect his sentencing. The headline was edited to reflect present events, and it initially refered to Terrell as a “Gainesville Man” when his arrest report shows he lives in the City of Alachua.
In May, Chase Brandt Terrell, 44, was convicted of two misdemeanor charges, making harassing telephone calls repeatedly and harassing a witness during prosecution. Terrell pleaded no contest in a plea deal that was accepted by Judge Kristine Van Vorst where he was sentenced to 12 months of probation.
Terrell’s sentence was amended in October due to errors or updates in court cost payment requirements.
Following the ending of Terrell and the victim’s relationship, he repeatedly contacted her against her wishes.
On January 6, the victim called the police after Terrell called and messaged her several times
The victim told Terrell he’s making her feel in danger and to stop contacting her. Police also contacted Terrell to tell him to stop contacting the victim. Terrell said he would stop.

On January 10, the day of Terrell’s arrest, he sent the victim several requests on Venmo between $400 and $510 to pay him back for gifts he gave her during their relationship.

When confronted by police, Terrell “acknowledged his correspondence with” the victim, the arrest report states. Terrell admitted to sending her Venmo requests and further admitted to contacting her mother to “apologize.”

Terrell was released soon after his arrest on a $1,500 bond.

Terrell has two convictions out of Orange County for violating stalking injunctions.

The State Attorney’s Office was initially prosecuting Terrell for stalking, but they dropped the count and refiled the case under the two charges which he was later convicted. According to court documents, Terrell harassed the victim on or between the date of his arrest and February 6 in an attempt to make her stop perusing the case.
Terrell resides in the City of Alachua, but his Facebook account shows he frequents Gainesville as a University of Florida Gators football fan.
A post on the Facebook group Gainesville Word of Mouth made in early November warns business owners to be aware if Terrell enters their establishment, stating, “He's shitfaced and has been already thrown out of Munegins and Mothers. He's actually banned for life at Mother's but he's DUMB AF.” A commenter on the post referenced Terrell making “psycho threats” against her and her husband.
