A man charged with interfering with the custody of a minor was released on recognizance Monday.

Ali Xavier Scarborough, 26, initially had a bond of $150,000 but Judge William Davis ordered him released on recognizance following a bond reduction motion by the Public Defender’s Office.

According to the arrest report, Scarborough took his child from his maternal grandmother in Ocala without the mother’s consent and was stopped by police while driving through Alachua County. Scarborough does not have parental rights over his child.

Scarborough will be fitted with an ankle monitor while on pretrial release and he is barred from owning any weapons.
