Man Sentenced to Community Control and Probation for Domestic Battery by Strangulation

Christopher James Thompson, 25, was convicted Monday morning of domestic battery by strangulation and property damage. He was sentenced to two years of community control, followed by three years of probation.
Thompson pleaded no contest as part of a deal with prosecutors, which Judge William Davis accepted.
According to court documents, Thompson punched the victim multiple times before pinning her down and choking her. As she tried to escape through a window, he struck her in the head again. Thompson told the victim he "had something for her" before leaving the room.
As the victim fled in her vehicle, Thompson threw a wooden post at the car, knocking off the rearview mirror and denting the hood.
Thompson's community control requires him to take a batterer's intervention program, abstain from drugs and alcohol and undergo random drug testing.
