Man Sentenced to Three Years in Prison for Drug Charges
On Monday, Abraham Billy Cannon, 46, entered a no-contest plea agreement in which he was convicted of violating pretrial release conditions and two counts of drug possession and sentenced to three years in prison.
Cannon was initially arrested on May 6, 2025, by the High Springs Police Department (HSPD) and charged with domestic battery and drug possession. A witness, who is not identified in the arrest report, reportedly told police that the victim and Cannon were arguing inside a vehicle when Cannon punched her in the face multiple times. The victim got out of the vehicle, and Cannon allegedly chased her. Officers observed small lacerations on her face.
Officers reported that they found cocaine when searching Cannon’s bag.
Cannon was released on a $12,000 bond, but he was arrested by HSPD again on May 26, 2025, and charged with drug possession, assault, and violating pretrial release conditions.
A witness, who is identified in the arrest report, reportedly told police that Cannon was chasing the victim around a food mart while holding a wine bottle. After dropping the bottle to the ground, Cannon allegedly continued chasing the victim with another bottle before leaving the store. At the time, there was an active no-contact order between the victim and Cannon due to the prior case.
Officers reported that they found cocaine in Cannon’s pocket.
Prosecutors did not move forward with prosecuting Cannon's domestic charges aside from the violation of pretrial release conditions by breaking the no-contact order.
Prior to the plea deal, Cannon was facing up to eleven years of imprisonment. The plea deal was signed by Assistant State Attorney Darla Whistler and accepted by Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard.

As of now, Cannon remains in the Alachua County Jail awaiting transportation to a Florida Department of Corrections facility.
