Man Serving Five Year Prison Sentence for Lewd/Lascivious Battery

Update | May 15, 2026: Although Judge James Colaw denied the pretrial detention motion, Kaiden Samarrion Davis-Shanks would not post bond as his case was ongoing.

On May 27, 2025, Davis-Shanks was convicted of one count of lewd or lascivious battery in a no contest plea deal and sentenced to five years in prison followed by three years of sex offender probation.

Davis-Shanks is currently housed at the Lake City Correctional Facility


Kaiden Samarrion Davis-Shanks, 19, was arrested last week and charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious battery for statutorily raping a girl below the age of consent. 

The victim’s mother and a few others confronted Davis-Shanks, leading law enforcement to be contracted.

Davis-Shanks effectively confessed when he spoke with police.

Davis-Shanks is on probation in Levy County for attempted burglary and criminal mischief.

The State Attorney's Office filed a motion of pretrial detention on Davis-Shanks but it was denied on Monday by Judge James Colaw. 

Colaw set Davis-Shanks' bond at $50,000 and ordered he wear an ankle monitor if released.
