Man Set for Release in Two Years After Serving Sentence for Possession of CSAM on Kik
Updated Dec 21, 2025 with prison release date information.
Tyler McCann-Carter, 26, will be released from the Lancaster Work Camp in roughly two years, according to the Florida Department of Corrections website.
In March 2024, McCann-Carter was sentenced to five years in prison following a no contest plea and conviction of eight counts of possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
Facing a maximum sentence of 100 years in prison, McCann-Carter took a plea deal accepted by Judge James Colaw.
After his release, McCann-Carter will serve a term of five years of sex offender probation.
McCann-Carter initially faced an additional six counts of child cruelty for child sexual abuse but the charges were dropped as part of his plea deal.

In February 2023, when McCann-Carter's residence was being searched by officers, he claimed he was attempting to “bait somebody out” so he could report them to the messaging app Kik.
McCann-Carter admitted that his attempts to “bait” offenders involved having videos of CSAM on his phone and that he would send the CSAM to others.

McCann-Carter was arrested months later, in August 2023.
A few weeks after his arrest, McCann-Carter's defense counsel made a bond reduction motion, showing he previously worked as an airport technician.

The bond reduction motion was denied by Colaw and McCann-Carter remained in jail until the conclusion of his case.
Court records show McCann-Carter was close to taking his case to trial, but he decided to take the plea deal at a pretrial conference.
