Man With History of Domestic Violence in Marion County Arrested for More Domestic Violence in Gainesville

Gainesville Police Department officers arrested Lorenzo William Siler, 32, Friday and charged him with domestic battery by a repeat offender and robbery by sudden snatching, both felonies. He also faces a misdemeanor for driving without a valid license.
According to the arrest report, the victim was in her vehicle with Siler when they got into a verbal altercation. At some point, the victim exited the vehicle, and Siler did the same.
Siler reportedly began slamming the victim’s car doors, causing her to try and push him away to prevent damage. Siler then reportedly punched the victim multiple times before reaching in her pockets and snatching her keys. He then got into her car and drove a short distance away, the arrest report states.
While Siler was driving, the victim told a nearby witness to call the police. Soon after, Siler returned to the scene and reportedly picked her up. Multiple witnesses calling the police advised that Siler forced the victim into the vehicle.
Police conducted a traffic stop on Siler and observed the victim with visible injuries.
Siler admitted some of the alleged acts in his police interview but denied getting physical with the victim.

The Alachua County Jail is holding Siler on a bond of $80,000.
Siler has multiple convictions in Marion County for domestic violence and violating pretrial release conditions.
