Charges Dropped

Update Aug 10, 2025: Flores’ charges were dropped on April 9, 2025, and the text in this article was updated to reflect this.
Simon David Flores, 29, was arrested on November 26 and charged with obscene communication and possession of obscene material.
The police report alleged that on September 18, Flores told an Instagram user he was depressed and wanted to commit a mass shooting. Later that day he told another Instagram user that 15 years of age was the “lowest [he’d] go,” the report stated.

On September 25, Flores sent a message to someone on Instagram stating he wanted to “pull a Columbine,” the report alleged.

On September 26, Flores attempted to groom a South American minor on Instagram, the report states. Flores continued having a sexually abusive conversation with the child after learning their age, according to the report.

Flores was released after posting a $100,000 bond.
The State Attorney’s Office did not file for pretrial detention.

Flores’ bond forms don’t state his pretrial release conditions, and his first appearance order isn’t publicly available on Alachua County’s court records website.

Flores’ has sought a public defender.
