Newberry Man Arrested for Domestic Battery by Strangulation

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) deputies arrested Alexander David Veguilla, 22, Tuesday night and charged him with domestic battery by strangulation. 

The arrest report states the victim fled to her neighbor's house after Veguilla battered her. 

Deputy Cedrick Henderson reported he arrived at the victim’s neighbor's residence to see dried blood on the victim’s face and shirt and a bruise on her neck. She had a laceration on her eye that was two inches deep. 

The victim told deputies that she and Veguilla were in an argument when he pushed her on the bed and began choking her. Veguilla reportedly told the victim he wanted her to die while choking her. 

The victim was evaluated at the hospital for her injuries, and medical reports corroborated Veguilla choking her.

Veguilla is being held in the Alachua County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
