Police Arrest Former Hospital Patient on Battery Warrant Two Years After Alleged Sexual Misconduct
Ryan Steven Hoffman (ACSO Jail)

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies booked Ryan Steven Hoffman, 36, into jail Friday evening on a warrant for battery on a medical provider.

The incident occurred on July 10, 2024, but a warrant wasn’t issued until this year.

Hoffman was a patient at North Florida Regional Medical Center and the victim was a patient care technician who was assigned to take his vitals.

The victim reported that while applying the blood pressure cuff, Hoffman “reached around with his hand and put his hand between her jacket and shirt and started touching and tickling her.” As the victim backed away, she observed Hoffman seemingly masturbating under the covers, as she could see hand movements near his genital area.

Later on, the victim and a witness returned to Hoffman’s room for more tests. According to the police report, “The Witness stated that she did not witness the initial battery. However, according to the Witness, she entered the room first, but just to the threshold, with the Victim behind her. The Witness stated she could see Defendant with his legs spread under the covers and could see that he had his hands between his legs and could see aggressive movements in the area between his legs and he appeared to be masterbating, but paused when he possibly saw her. Neither went any further into the room and then left.”

Hoffman denied touching the victim.

Hoffman currently remains in the Alachua County Jail on a $50,000 bond. If found guilty, he could be sentenced to five years in prison. Hoffman's warrant shows that he was previously convicted of battery in Pinellas County.
