Putnam Man Sentenced to Two Years Probation for Felony Domestic Battery in Alachua County Court
Shannon Wayne Bracewell

Shannon Wayne Bracewell, 59, was sentenced to two years of probation last week and convicted of felony battery by a repeat offender.

Facing up to five years in prison, Bracewell took a plea deal that was accepted by Judge David Kreider.

According to the police report, in June, the victim and Bracewell were driving to the University of Florida Emergency Vet Clinic with their puppies when they “became engaged in a verbal argument regarding [Bracewell] having sex with their male roommate.”

Bracewell became enraged and attacked the victim with a banana before punching her and slamming her head into the dashboard. When the victim began to defend herself, Bracewell began clawing at her, breaking her necklace, of which the clasp was found embedded in the skin on the backside of her neck.

The victim was eventually able to escape the vehicle with her puppies and belongings.

The attack was witnessed by four people sitting in a car adjacent to the victim and Bracewell’s vehicle.

Putnam County Sheriff’s Office deputies interviewed Bracewell at his residence, and he reportedly said the victim attacked him first.

Court records show that Bracewell has a prior conviction for misdemeanor domestic battery in Putnam County from last year, for which he was sentenced to one month of jail, which he already served.

Bracewell has an additional open case of misdemeanor domestic battery in Putnam County from earlier this year, court records show.
