Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers arrested Alphonso Gadson, 71, Monday and charged him with domestic battery.

GPD Officer Nicholas Isgar reports, “The victim and [Gadson] were engaged in a verbal argument in [his] car because [Gadson] wanted the victim to leave their shared residence. The victim stated that during the argument she had blocked a swing by [Gadson] when he attempted to slap her in the face. A spontaneous statement by [Gadson] saying ‘yeah I did it’ immediately after confirmed the event took place.”

The victim had a visible bump on her left forearm.

After being read his Miranda rights, Gadson denied striking the victim.

Judge Meshon Rawls ordered Gadson released on recognizance.
