19-Year-Old Nicknamed “Crack” Faces Aggravated Assault Cases in Gilchrist and Alachua Counties
Tristin Zyler Miller (ACSO Jail)

A 19-year-old who reportedly goes by the nickname “Crack,” Tristin Zyler Miller, was recently arrested by the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) and charged with aggravated assault and misdemeanor battery.

Miller simultaneously has an open case in Gilchrist County for aggravated assault, but he wasn’t arrested for this. As of now, the case remains in sworn complaint status, and there is no warrant.

The subsection of Miller's Gilchrist charge is for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with intent to commit a felony, while his Alachua County charge is for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

Gilchrist Case:

According to the sworn complaint, Trenton Public Safety officers Connor Kruszewski and Joe Silverstein responded to the incident location after receiving reports that someone in a dark-colored car brandished a firearm.

Officers were not able to locate the suspected vehicle but did make contact with teenagers involved in the altercation.

The investigation resulted in officers obtaining video footage that showed two teenagers fighting. In the background, Miller reportedly could be seen having his hand on a gun tucked in his waistband.

Silverstein reported that he asked the witnesses “why no one tried to stop the fight and they initially stated that they didn't know. Then they all stated that Zyler had threatened to shoot anyone who jumped in. None of this was captured in the video. All parties on scene gave written/verbal statements of the incident. [One of the witnesses] was unable to write so his statement was recorded on Ofc. Krusewski's BWC.”

Alachua County Case:

On the night of February 19, GPD Officer Justin Smith arrested Miller and reported the following:

“The victim, who is not related to or in a relationship with [Miller], advised that [Miller] intentionally pointed a handgun at her while yelling [belligerent] and hostile statements towards [her].
[Miller] was inside of the victim’s residence at the time of the incident. [Miller] did not have a lawful reason to point his firearm at the victim. The victim stated that she was in such fear for her life and safety that she immediately ran outside of her apartment when she saw [Miller] point the gun at her.
The victim could not specifically remember what [Miller] was yelling at her when he was pointing the firearm at her because ‘it happened so fast.’
The victim described the firearm as being a desert ‘sand’ colored pistol with a transparent extended magazine. The victim stated that she remembers specifically seeing ‘bullets’ inside of [Miller’s] clear extended magazine.
Shortly before [Miller] assaulted the victim with a firearm, the victim stated [Miller] purposefully punched her in the face in the parking lot in front of her residence as she was trying to keep [him] from beating up her boyfriend. I did not observe visible injuries or marks on the victim.
The victim completed a sworn and signed written statement documenting her account of this incident in which she states ‘Crack’ (the nickname the victim knows [Miller] by) looked at me and said, ‘do you want some, too' and proceeded to hit me’ and ‘Crack took his gun out.’
[Miller] stated that he was just a witness and that he never threatened or touched anyone during this altercation. [Miller] stated that he also never had a firearm during any point of this altercation. [Miller] declined to make any post-Miranda statements.
LEO on scene were not able to locate [Miller’s] firearm at this time. We believe the firearm that [Miller] used while assaulting the victim is inside of his vehicle. I am actively working to obtain a search warrant for [Miller’s] vehicle at this time.”

The Alachua County Jail is holding Miller on a $155,000 bond, court records show.
