19-Year-Old with Battery Against Teacher Case Faces New Charges
A 19-year-old with an over-year-old felony case for a count of battery on a public education employee, Arneeke Leon Williams, is now facing more charges for possessing cannabis and a gun. Following his arrest on Wednesday, prosecutors formally filed the charges just five days later.
On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, then an 18-year-old student at Eastside High School, Williams was in class while the 24-year-old teacher was informing students about an activity.
According to a student acting as a witness, Williams was standing up and told the teacher to not move. The witness said Williams walked up to the teacher and said she had a bug in her hair. Soon after, a 17-year-old approached and said the same thing. The witness described the teacher as smiling and laughing but recounted her saying, “Y’all better not touch me.” The witness said the students told her not to move again and tapped her head.
When the teacher interviewed with a school resource deputy, she described telling Williams to have a seat after he told her not to move. She said Williams kept calling her name and telling her to not move, blocking her from moving around her desk.
The police report describes both students putting their hands on the teacher. Williams was standing in front of her with his hand on her arms while the 17-year-old was behind her with his hand on her back, preventing her from moving, the report states. Williams reportedly raised his arm as if he was about to hit the teacher before both students struck the middle part of her head and ran back to their seats.
Both students were charged via sworn complaint the day after the incident.
The 17-year-old was charged the same as Williams but further information on his case isn’t available due to him being a minor at the time.

Williams was arrested on a warrant in December 2024 and released after posting a $15,000 bond.
Prosecutors formally filed the count in January 2025.
Williams maintains his not guilty plea today, and the case is still pending alongside his new charges.
On February 17, 2026, Deputy Connor Logan responded to the incident location after receiving reports of a domestic battery.
Logan reported that he was able to locate Williams, who matched the suspect description provided by the third-party complainant. Logan reported that upon speaking with Williams, he began stepping away before running.
Eventually, Williams dropped his backpack and stopped running.
Logan reported, “Once detained [Williams] was under arrest and searched… Inside the backpack was a small amount of marijuana weighing less than 20 grams. The marijuana was loosely secured in a plastic cup. There was also a pocket scale, and a loaded handgun. Post-Miranda the defendant admitted the contents of the backpack was his and that the firearm was gifted to him by a friend.”
Williams received a juvenile adjudication in October 2023, making him not allowed to possess a firearm.
Based on the arrest report, it doesn’t appear the third-party complainant witnessed anything physical, with the arrest report stating they “heard a fight" or "believed" a fight was happening. The third-party complainant is not named in the report and does not appear to be on the prosecutor's witness list.

Williams was charged with possessing a firearm as an adjudicated delinquent—a felony—along with three misdemeanors: resisting an officer without violence, possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis, and possession of drug equipment.
On February 23, 2026, prosecutors formally filed the new charges against Williams. Soon after, they began submitting their witness list to the court, which includes five Sheriff’s Office deputies.

Williams’ new arrest puts him in violation of pretrial release for his older case. While his bond is set at $39,000 on his new charges, posting it won't get Williams out of jail because prosecutors filed a motion to revoke bond in his older case. Judge Robert Groeb granted the motion shortly after it was filed.
Williams appears to be trying to fight his teacher battery case, with depositions set for next month. There are currently no scheduled court dates in his new case.
