Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies served a warrant on Harold Dean Zink, 40, last week.

On March 28, Zink was charged via sworn complaint with kidnapping, obstruction and battery with a prior conviction.

The victim told police she and Zink were driving through Alachua County back to Citrus Springs when they got into an argument. Zink reportedly made a U-turn and the victim had a bad feeling about what was going to happen.

The victim tried to grab her phone off Zink’s lap to call the police but he grabbed her hand. The victim tried to exit the vehicle but Zink held her back. The victim managed to escape and ran into the woods where she called the police.

Zink has a prior battery conviction from 2005.

Zink is being held in the Alachua County Jail on a $45,000 bond.
