Cammack said, “We were shocked; my husband, who's a SWAT medic, was next to me in the office on Capitol Hill. Unfortunately, social media immediately flooded with the video of the shot. He looked at it with me in real time and said, ‘I don’t think he survives this.’ Our hearts just broke.”

Cammack said she got to know Kirk and his team doing TPUSA events over the years and said, “They are on a mission.”

Cammack said she agreed with the address made by Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, when she said, “If you thought that my husband's mission was powerful before… You have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country. In this world, you have no idea. You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife.”

Cammack continued, “We cannot let hate become the new normal… Entertainment has graduated into a place where now, all of a sudden, people think that violence—political violence—and the desire to eliminate someone because you disagree with their viewpoint, it’s not okay. But people, some, have decided it is okay, so we have a responsibility now to stand up and push back and protect the things that Charlie stood for and fought for.”

Cammack went on to say, “I think everyone, Republicans and Democrats, can agree that the political temperature needs to come down dramatically. We have to learn how to have the conversations once again… I can’t tell you how many times—how many messages—how many death threats that I get just as a Republican being called a fascist, being called a litany of different things that has no basis in fact. It’s because people choose to name-call and throw out insults rather than have a debate.”

Cammack concluded her interview with News Nation, saying, "Collectively, every single leader in the country—and I unfortunately have some colleagues who have decided they’re going to continue to villainize Charlie, they need to speak up and speak out loudly that violence is never acceptable.”
