Convicted Child Predator Arrested for Domestic Violence

Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers have arrested convicted sex offender Eugene James Slevin, 30, and charged him with two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery.

In 2015, Slevin got caught in a police sting operation designed to catch predators using the internet to meet children. He was convicted, sentenced to three years in prison and required to register as a sex offender. 

In 2017, Slevin was charged with sexual battery but prosecutors dropped the case. 

Slevin was later re-arrested for burglary and violating sex offender registration requirements, leading to a prison sentence of roughly four years. He was released in December 2023. According to the Florida Department of Corrections website, he also goes by "3 Money."

On Wednesday, Slevin and the victim were doing deliveries on Doordash when they got into an argument about money. During the argument, Slevin reportedly grabbed the victim and threw her to the ground from their vehicle. 

Later on, Selvin and the victim reportedly got into another argument relating to money and a similar altercation occurred where Slevin pulled her from the vehicle and slapped her. Slevin further removed their child and car seat from the vehicle and reportedly “placed the child on the ground” but the victim “stated she did not believe [Slevin] was attempting to harm the child.”  

The victim’s account was corroborated by a witness. 

Judge Adam Lee set Slevin’s bond at $30,000.
