“Excellent Result:” State Attorney Thanks GPD and Prosecutors After Registered Sex Offender Gets Life in Prison for Over Two Dozen CSAM Charges
Thursday morning, the Eighth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office (SAO8) issued a post on Facebook to commemorate the successful prosecution against registered sex offender Joshua Simaul Bryan, 40.
A jury found Bryan guilty of over two dozen child sexual abuse material (CSAM) charges, in addition to a count of online child solicitation, leading to Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard handing down a life sentence.
In 2021, Bryan was convinced of ten counts of possessing CSAM. Pursuant to a plea agreement, Judge David Kreider imposed a four year prison sentence followed by seven years of sex offender probation. He was released in July 2024.
In 2025, Bryan was arrested again for alleged sex offender registration violations, CSAM possession and related charges. SAO8 dropped the registration violation case after Bryan was found guilty in the other new case.
The only charge the jury acquitted Bryan of was using a two-way communications device to facilitate a felony.
“I’m thankful to our team and the Gainesville Police Department for this excellent result,” State Attorney Brian Kramer wrote on Facebook.
According to Reich Wing Watch, "Bryan’s Facebook page is filled with treasonous Confederate flag imagery, which is closely associated with the white supremacist movement."

As of now, Bryan remains in the Alachua County Jail awaiting transportation to a Florida Department of Corrections facility.
SAO8 Announcement:
On November 3, 2026, Joshua Bryan, aged 40, was found guilty and sentenced to Life in Prison for twenty-seven counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material, one count of Transmission of Child Sexual Abuse Material, and one count of Use of a Computer to Solicit a Minor. Assistant State Attorneys, Brooke King and Dean Zipes successfully prosecuted this case, with the honorable Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard presiding.
On April 20, 2025, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip from Facebook, sharing an account related to child exploitation, along with an image that was uploaded and distributed online. After receiving this tip, the IP address of the suspect was traced, leading authorities to Bryan’s residence.
On June 26, 2025, a search warrant was executed by the Gainesville Police Department at the defendant’s residence. During the execution of the search warrant, multiple electronic devices were seized from the defendant’s residence, including one device containing over one hundred and forty files of Child Sexual Abuse Material. On July 2, 2025, Bryan was arrested and charged with Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material, Transmission of Child Sexual Abuse Material, and Use of a Computer to Solicit a Minor.
