Wednesday, May 27, Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) conducted a multi-agency active shooter response drill with the Gainesville Police Department (GPD), the University of Florida Police Department, and Alachua County Fire Rescue.

GFR announced the drill on their Facebook account and said it was one of the largest ever conducted locally.

According to GFR, "This training represents four years of collaboration and growth alongside GPD — beginning with small-scale scenarios focused on learning how to move and operate together effectively under pressure. Each year, the exercise has expanded in complexity as all agencies continued sharpening their coordination, communication, and response capabilities. This year’s exercise included more than 60 role players portraying a wide range of injuries and outcomes, creating a highly realistic environment designed to challenge first responders and strengthen lifesaving teamwork."

GFR posted several photos from the drill.
