Former Shands Employee Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison for Domestic Battery by Strangulation and Witness Tampering
On October 28, Christian Thedrick Bradley, 41, was sentenced to 18 months in prison following a no contest plea and conviction for domestic battery by strangulation and tampering with a witness.
Facing up to ten years in prison for the felonies, Bradley took a plea deal that was accepted by Judge David Kreider.
According to the police report, on June 25, 2025, Bradley and the victim were in an argument regarding finances and cleaning supplies. As the argument progressed, Bradley grew angrier, culminating in him forcing the victim onto a bed with his hands around her throat. The victim kicked Bradley off her and yelled for someone to call 911, prompting Bradley to run away from the area.
A ten-year-old witness contacted the police and gave them a statement. The child witnessed a significant portion of the attack, seeing Bradley choking the victim and her gasping for air after he let go.
Gainesville Police Department Officer Brayden Stokes reported, “LEO did not observe any apparent injuries to the victim. [The] victim has a darker brown skin tone. It is important to note that signs of strangulation—such as redness, bruising, and petechiae—are not always immediately visible, especially on individuals with darker skin. Therefore, the absence of visible injuries to [the] victim is still consistent with [her] and the witness’ account of the battery occurring.”
Bradley was arrested on a warrant four days after the incident.
Bradley was granted a bond of $100,000, which he did not post as his case was ongoing.
On September 8, Public Defender Aubroncee Martin submitted a bond reduction motion on Bradley’s behalf that stated he was “employed in the housekeeping department at Shands hospital” and that he "believes he can maintain his employment there if released.” Kreider denied the motion.

Bradley is serving a straight Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) sentence, with no orders of probation following his release.
According to the arrest report, Bradley was initially only facing the strangulation charge. Prosecutors later added the tampering charge when formally filing his case. Information filed states Bradley intimidated or threatened the victim to not speak with authorities.
The FDC website shows Bradley has served multiple prior prison sentences for adjudications out of Orange County, however, he doesn't have any prior arrests out of Alachua County, court records show. Bradley is currently housed in the FDC Reception and Medical Center.
